Touka Satomi (里見灯花?) is one of the characters for Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica Side Story. She is one of Ui Tamaki's best friends.

Personality[]

Touka is an intelligent girl who is one of Ui's best friends and is one of the Magius. From an early age she was shown to be gifted in math and technology, doing complex calculations and making inventions. She has a cocky personality, often boasting about her knowledge, though she can also be endearing at times. Touka met Ui at her father's hospital along with Nemu. She causes fights with Nemu a lot, making up shortly after.

Appearance[]

As a magical girl Touka has russet hair and eyes with a bow on the side of her head. On her boots are black with red clasps. Her dress is black which parts to show a layer of red fabric covered by bars reminiscent of those in a prison. Tan fabric trims the bottom of the skirt and red ribbon adorns the sleeves, collar, and waist.

On her other appearance, which is her casual clothing, she has a light brown peach colored dress and a pink tiny ribbon on her hair.

Plot[]

Touka first appears at episode 3 of the Magia Record anime in Iroha's dream. She was with Nemu and Ui, playing with a toy train, which ended up causing a fire. Followed by her having a fight with Nemu.

In Episode 12 (Magia Record) Touka makes her appearance outside of flashbacks, sitting on the armrest of a chair.

Doppel description[]

※ The Doppel of daydreaming. Its form is a Match Seller. The master of this emotion desires more power even after becoming a Magical Girl, in order to achieve more wishes. This Doppel divides its master's lifespan up into matches, and grants a "What if" wish whenever a match is lit. When the Doppel runs out of matches, the master's life is over. It is very powerful, but similar to the Doppel of Dying Wishes, it mustn't be abused, for it sacrifices one's own lifespan.

Trivia[]

  • Touka is one of the three Magius.
  • It's observed that her design might symbolize a prison along with Nemu and Alina, with her dress resembling prison bars.
  • Her doppel is a reference to The Little Matchstick Girl by Danish author, Hans Christian Andersen. The story revolves around a dying girls hopes and wishes, seeing one everytime she lights a match. However the match goes out in the cold snow and she loses a bit of her life force which is what Pennen Nolde does to Touka everytime she lights match when she uses it.
  • Both her doppel and Nemu's doppel are linked to their owner's lifespans. This is referenced in Pennen Nolde's description.
  • Her doppel summons a bright star in the sky that rains down falling stars - Stars are often seen as symbols of hope and falling stars are said in many forms of folklore to grant wishes. However, the falling stars may also represent Touka's waning life as she uses the doppel, as her dreams seem to be unreachable.
