Mabayu Aki (愛生まばゆ?) is one of the seven main Magical Girls and the title character of Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica: Scene 0. She's a third year at Mitakihara Middle School and is in the same class as Mami. She works in her aunt's cafe Récompense (レコンパンス?).

Appearance[]
Mabayu Aki has green messy shoulder-length hair with yellow hues, and wide oval-shaped purple eyes. Mabayu also wears a yellow scissors in her bang in her face. In her civilian form, she is mostly seen in her school uniform.
Personality[]
Mabayu is a cinephile who likes watching movies alone and is often found in video rental stores. She tends to be nervous and introverted.
Etymology[]
Mabayu (まばゆ?): Mabayu's name is contained in the phrase "mabayui" (まばゆい?) meaning "dazzling; glaring".[1]
Aki (愛生?): A (愛?) means "love"[2] and ki (生?) means "life".[3] Alternatively, it can be read as "Aki" (秋?) meaning "autumn".[4]
Relationships[]
- Madoka Kaname: Mabayu knows Madoka.
- Mami Tomoe: Her classmate. Mabayu knows everything about Magical Girls but Mami is completely unaware of that.
- Homura Akemi: In later timelines, Homura becomes aware of Mabayu's abilities to remember past timelines and team up afterwards to defeat Witches, to train together and also protect Madoka.

Her aunt who owns the cafe Récompense in Mitakihara. Mabayu works there to have an allowance so she can rent movies to watch. She is trying to pet the stray cat Amy.

- She can also remember previous time loops.
Trivia[]
- She shares her voice actress with Oriko Mikuni.
- Although her Live2D model and most official art show her school uniform having a green sweater, animated material mostly shows her without her sweater.
