Devil Homura

To read the full story, see Homura Akemi.

Devil Homura, is the goddess form of Homura Akemi, who takes this form in Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion, after separating the existence of Madoka Kaname from her Goddess form and absorbing her powers. She appears in Magia Record as a playable character.

Appearances/Story/History[]

In The Rebellion Story[]

You're right... I'm not a magical girl or a witch. Madoka, is a sacred as a god, and I decided to pull her from Heaven. So if you want to know what I've become... I suppose, if anything, you can call me a Demon now.

Homura takes this form after stopping Ultimate Madoka from taking her with her to the Law of Cycles. To do this, she takes her hand firmly to divide it between her original form as Madoka and her goddess form, absorbing the powers of The Law of Cycles. As her Soul Gem darkens completely, it covers the universe with its colors and Homura creates a new world. Homura's Gem transforms into a Dark Orb, and she claims that what darkened her Gem was her love for Madoka. Kyubey asks her what she has become, considering she is no longer a Puella Magi or a witch. Agreeing with him, Homura transforms into her Goddess form and explains that she considers herself a "demon", since she took the Goddess out of heaven to keep her imprisoned. Kyubey responds by saying that manipulating human emotions is dangerous and tries to escape, but Homura doesn't allow it. Devil Homura decides to enslave Kyubey and the rest of the Incubators to collect the curses of the new world.

Despite declaring herself a demon and considering herself "evil", Devil Homura creates a world where all the girls are alive and can live a normal life. Sayaka Miki befriends Kyoko Sakura and Mami Tomoe reunites with Nagisa "Bebe" Momoe. Madoka, for her part, lives a happy life with her family after having lived in the United States for 3 years, returning to Japan after her mother ended her work contract abroad. However, upon realizing that Madoka has fuzzy memories of her Goddess form, Homura resigns herself to the fact that sooner or later, she will have to fight her and they will be enemies. Still, Homura wants Madoka to be happy in the world she has created.

In Puella Magi Madoka Magica Concept Movie[]

Devil Homura is mentioned when Madoka and Homura talk about "the Goddess". They both talk about how she lacks happiness, so "Lizard Girl" feels sorry for her and takes her out of paradise. This explains Homura's reasons for separating Madoka from her Goddess form.

  • Madokas and Homuras dialogue in the concept movie:
    • Madoka and Homura: Do you know what happiness is?
    • Madoka: It's the bright May sun.
    • Homura: It's the warmth of family.
    • Madoka: It's fried eggs for breakfast.
    • Madoka and Homura: But there's nothing like that in Heaven.
    • Madoka and Homura: Do you know what happiness is?
    • Homura: It's about someone calling you by your name.
    • Madoka: It's calling someone by their name.
    • Homura: It's when someone is thinking about you.
    • Madoka and Homura: But God alone can't have any of this.
    • Homura: A lizard girl took pity on God...
    • Madoka: ...so the lizard girl split God in two, and kidnapped one of his halves from Heaven to Earth.
    • Homura: That glow was so kind it's cruel. Finding it in the dark... it was too dazzling.
