Connect (コネクト, Connect^?) is the opening theme for Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica anime as well as the fourth ending theme of the series, used in episodes 10 and 12.

Sequence[]

The opening most likely covers the life of Madoka as a Magical Girl and begins with a shot where she stands all by herself looking sad as the screen turns white leading up to the show title.

Her and Kyubey appear to be embarrased while daydreaming of the following in order: Madoka running while getting chased by a bulldog, Sayaka and Mami looking at Madoka having a huge afro, running into a pole with Kyubey, wearing lingerie, Madoka infront of a monster with a scared Sayaka and Mami, her being scared of spiders, getting carried by birds in the sky, her getting inflated just like a balloon and then flying away, and her afro getting bigger with Kyubey on her hair. She then later finds herself in her bedroom.

She gets wrapped in her celestial self's arms as she turns into a Magical Girl and various shots of the following: Madoka and her fa mi ly, Sayaka, Hitomi, and Madoka eating desserts, them in their PE uniforms with Kazuko Saotome, Sayaka and Kyousuke holding his violin, Mami and Kyubey sleeping, Kyoko on a balcony, and Homura looking up while holding an umbrella with other people.

It then zooms in to Madoka's face and starts running in the rain. She opens her eyes with a silhouette of a cat in front of her and then shows her and the cat in her arms as she tears up and smiles. She goes face to face with Homura and the shot ascends to the sky again, leading to the show title. The opening ends with Sayaka, Mami, Madoka and Kyubey sitting on a tower.

The opening is updated in episode 10, to feature Kyoko and Homura sitting behind Madoka, Sayaka and Mami in the final scene.

Trivia[]

In episodes 1 and 6, the song can be heard in the background. In the first case when Madoka and Sayaka visit a shop and in the second one when Kyoko dances in the game machine.
At the time of its release, Connect debuted at No. 5 on Oricon's weekly singles chart and was later awarded the Golden Disk for exceeding 100,000 sales in one year.
The sequence and the song are re-used in The Eternal Story after the recap of episode 10, although there are some new animated scenes focusing around Homura instead of Madoka.
Some of the panels of Madoka from the post-title scene were also made into merchandise.
